As we continue to work with new software and hardware, we will update you with helpful sheets that provide guidance. Check back occasionally! Below are links for freeware and PDF files of helpful hints: Freeware for testing GPS quality and COM ports GPS Viewer (Both PocketPC and Windows XP) This is the program we prefer for testing COM ports and to see if the GPS is transmitting data. You can get a latitude and longitude from this program but you cannot save waypoints. To use the PocketPC version, download to your PC and open while synching to your Recon. GPS viewer comes as a ZIP file Visual GPS (Windows XP) Visual GPS (Pocket PC) This program, while still freeware, is great for getting more information such as DOP and error. Driver and information for the SX Blue II Start Here (PDF) These are the instructions for setting up your SX Blue USB Driver. Driver (zipped folder) Download the driver, unzip, and save to a location you can find. SX Blue II Manual (PDF) For additional information, consult this PDF manual. Additional project-specific software (*Contact us for personalized software) TreeMapper freeware (2.6 MB) for collecting tree data specific to a project in Mexico. Monkey Mapper COM 3 (2. MB). For running a GPS through COM 3. Monkey Mapper V. 2 (2. MB). Updated with new monkey names! pisCEs v.2 freeware (2.6 MB) for collecting RFID tag data that is georeferenced via a connected GPS through the CompactFlash port. EasyGPS freeware (2.5 MB) to collect basic GPS data and waypoint names. Exports as a text file. Dowload to your PC, sync your Recon, and open the SetUp file. The program, EasyGPS, will appear in your Program folder. Note that the GPS needs to be connected to COM 2 (standard for CompactFlash GPS). Simple instructions can be downloaded here. Helpful Hints.
